This client wanted to remain anonymous but she also wanted to share her story for others:

When this client first came to Southside Behavioral Health, she described her reason in two simple words: “self-healing.” Behind those words, however, was a deep struggle. After experiencing a significant personal loss, she was overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, and irrational thoughts. She carried an excessive sense of guilt and self-blame, and her focus on pleasing others left little room to care for herself. At the time, her anxiety was so severe that she was unable to work or even enter public places alone.

Through outpatient therapy and psychiatry services at Southside Behavioral Health, she began the process of healing and rebuilding her confidence. With support, she gradually regained her ability to cope with daily challenges and started reclaiming her independence.

Today, she describes the change as feeling “a lot better…lighter…more calm and relaxed. Less of a people pleaser.” She has successfully returned to work, feels comfortable being out in public again, and is able to challenge irrational guilt. With her renewed self-assurance, she has become more assertive and confident in her own voice.

Looking back, she says the most important part of her experience is that “it’s been a positive experience. Positive meaning I don’t feel judged. I don’t feel like I’m the only one going through something.”

When asked what she is most proud of, her answer was simple yet powerful: “My growth.”
