Southside Behavioral Health Wins Tobacco Use Prevention & Cessation for Youth Grant

For the next three years, Southside Behavioral Health (in partnership with local chambers and marketing organizations) will provide multiple prevention strategies targeting youth nicotine/tobacco prevention in the counties of Halifax, Brunswick, and Mecklenburg.

This initiative provides for the establishment of annual youth interest surveys, virtual challenges, educational social media campaigns, and a localized “World No Tobacco Day” campaign. These campaigns will run every year for three years with awarded funds and then some will be continued through organizational and community efforts. They will target rural youth and aim to promote tobacco/nicotine prevention and cessation messaging with the intent to improve local health outcomes in our youth populations. Through these campaigns, local organizations and Southside Behavioral Health will engage local youth regarding the risks of tobacco use as well as promote the cessation of tobacco nicotine products.
