Southside Behavioral Health Virtual Art Show Winners Announced

The 2021 Southside Behavioral Health Virtual Art Show took place this morning, June 16th, at 10:00 A.M. During the live online event, participant artwork was viewed and awards were announced.

Multiple types of prizes were awarded. The “Fan Favorite” was determined by popular vote, while other award recipients were selected through a panel of professional judges. Winners were acknowledged with ribbons and congratulations. Winners include:
1st Place: Discovering Inner Strength by Peggy Wolf
2nd Place: For the Child that Wasn’t by Danielle Lucas
3rd Place: Forever is a Dream by Brandon Wright
Fan Favorite: Thankful for the Country by Patricia May

Juried winners were determined by these local professionals: Joe Trickey, Jr. (Southside Behavioral Health Board Member), Barabara Ferguson (Cluster Springs Elementary), Jordan Coe Klein (Sass and Sawdust), and Michele Bergsma (Southside Art Bank). Before the event, these individuals met during a private event to discuss participant artwork and judge pieces according to relevance, style, and artistic ability.

In total, over 50 pieces from the counties of Halifax, Mecklenburg, and Brunswick were submitted and viewed. Each piece is as special and unique as the individuals we serve. Southside Behavioral Health would like to give a special thank you to the participants and individuals responsible for making this year’s art show a possibility.
