Southside Behavioral Health Explores Equine Therapy
Southside Behavioral Health is recruiting some new staff in our effort to improve youth mental health. Unlike regular staff that you see in the office, these therapists have four legs and a long fuzzy snout. That’s right! We’re working with Touch of Grey Farms to develop Equine-Assisted therapy options for our local community.
Equine therapy can be used to treat trauma, stress, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and more. According to an article from verywellmind, equine therapy helps with emotional awareness, social skills, impulse control, confidence, trust, empathy, and problem-solving skills. The natural setting can also provide a more comfortable environment than a traditional office, allowing for more trust and progress.
Together with Touch of Grey Farms, we look forward to achieving new and innovative ways to provide for the mental health needs of our local communities.
