BRUNSWICK, MECKLENBURG, & HALIFAX, VIRGINIA – Southside Behavioral Health held a community-wide contest to name the new Crisis Receiving & Behavioral Health Center in South Hill in March 2023. We received many wonderful ideas, through review and internal voting we narrowed it down to 3, the final name was decided on by staff. The winner of the contest is Sandra Davis!!
Our official name of the newly renovated facility is: Response & Recovery Center.
The building is located at 823 N. Mecklenburg Ave in South Hill, VA and will be the hub of our crisis services in our agency for all 3 counties and will also house Adult Behavioral Health Services for Mecklenburg County. The new location for these services was decided on to improve ease of access and to consolidate staff. These services are currently being provided in Boydton.
“Southside Behavioral Health is excited to provide increased services to our community and optimistic that the services will offer relief and empowerment to individuals in crisis and to those continuing their care with us in outpatient services. We are grateful to all partners who have worked with us to make this possible, as it has truly been a combined effort.” says Southside Behavioral Health’s Director of Clinical Services, Alisha Wright.
The date of the opening of the building is yet to be determined. We anticipate opening the building with a scaled array of crisis services and fully operational adult behavioral health services. There will be an open house and public ribbon cutting ceremony to invite community partners in to see the newly renovated facility. More details will be available in the coming weeks, please keep an eye out for dates and information.
