SBH hosts ASIST at Estes Center

on Tuesday, March 25 and Wednesday, March 26th, Southside Behavioral Health hosted a 2-day Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) at the Estes Community Center in Chase City for 11 folks in the community. Our trainers were Michael RoseMobile Crisis Response Supervisor, and Letha Garner-ColemanLead Children Services Case Manager. ASIST is designed to help caregivers who are 18 years of age or older to recognize risk for suicide, intervene to prevent immediate harm, and link persons at risk to the next level of care. Although ASIST is widely used by healthcare providers, participants don’t need any formal training to attend the workshop. ASIST can be learned and used by anyone.

If you would like SBH to host an ASIST training at your location/business call 434-572-6916 EXT 1550 or email prevention@southsidebh.org
