SBH Hosts 20th CIT Training

Last week Southside Behavioral Health hosted its 20th 40-hour Core Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Training, bringing together participants from local law enforcement agencies, Sheriff’s Offices, 911 dispatch, Sentara Security, and the Meherrin River Regional Jail (MRRJ).

This milestone class reflects ongoing collaboration between law enforcement and mental health professionals dedicated to improving crisis response across Southside Virginia. CIT instructors, representing both fields, provide education on mental health, de-escalation strategies, and community resources to help individuals in crisis access the care they need while diverting them from unnecessary involvement in the criminal justice system.

Congratulations to all members of our 20th graduating class! The next CIT Training will be held in December.
