SBH Children & Family Services Attends Public Safety Discovery Camp

On July 22, 2025 Southside’s Children and Family Services partnered with Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office for their Public Safety Discovery Camp. Campers, ages 9-13 yrs old, learned different safety topics from many organizations. Southside provided an “escape room challenge” where campers had to find the clues to solve the mystery word. During this activity they were able to learn more about suicide prevention, create their own crisis plan/learn about 988, learn the importance of coping skills, understanding anxiety, how to deal with peer pressure, and find out more about mental health services by having the chance to “ask a professional”. The event was well attended with about 76 day campers who were enthusiastic and eager to learn!
