Paul Mandel

Paul Mandel has been part of the Southside Behavioral Health team since 1997. He describes his career with the Board as “someone who grew up in the agency.” Originally, Paul began his career as a Mental Health Case Manager. Within two years, he moved into the position of Intellectual Developmental (ID) Case Manager. After this, he was promoted to Lead ID Case Manager. As the ID department began to grow, Paul’s title changed to ID Case Management and Waiver Services Supervisor. In this position, he was responsible for overseeing all ID/DD waiver services for our three-county catchment area.

On January 1, 2012, Paul assumed his current role as the Director of ID/DD Services. As the Director of ID/DD Services, he is responsible for a wide range of ID/DD services that include: day group, residential, support coordination, and Early Intervention services for infants and children from 0-3 years. Our residential services include group homes, semi-independent living apartments, and Intermediate Care Facilities (ICF) for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

As a 23-year employee, Paul has faced many challenges such as working through the Department of Justice settlement, which brought many changes to service delivery for our individuals. However, the reward of watching our individuals grow and meet their full potential far outweighs the many challenges. Paul states that “it has been a privilege to serve our community during these many years.”
