Kameelah Singleton
I started my career at Southside Behavioral Health as a Mental Health Secretary/Receptionist at the Mecklenburg Behavioral Health Center in Boydton, VA., in 2009. Providing administrative support to the clients we serve, peer support, therapist, case managers, psychiatrist and nursing staff. During my time there I obtained a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Health Administration. My original goal was to become the Administrator of this location, but my path took me in a different direction. In 2016, I became the Administrative Secretary at the Administrative offices in Clarksville, VA. Under the supervision of the Human Resource Director, I did a lot of work for the HR department leading me into the Human Resource Generalist role, the Human Resource Generalist Training Supervisor, Human Resource Manager and now the Director of Human Resources. I find my job to be very rewarding knowing that I am helping staff that are continuing to serve the individuals in our communities. This role is responsible for EAP, HR policies and procedures, complaints, grievances, staff recognition, staff development, recruitment, maintaining employee personnel files, maintaining health insurance for staff, following all local, state, and federal labor laws, FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, ADEA, OSHA, EEOC, etc. I’ve been with Southside Behavioral Health for 13 years and to know that I am helping to make a difference and helping to lead for change so that staff are providing the best care possible for the community we serve, makes it all worthwhile.
