I began my post-graduate career as a medical social worker. Worked in a rural community hospital with a nursing home for seven years. Developed the social work department by writing policies and procedures and supervising staff and provided social work and discharge planning services for the inpatient medical floors, emergency department, oncology, and the nursing home. Also provided contracted social work services to a private dialysis center. I worked for the next four years as a therapist on an inpatient psychiatric unit completed assessments, provided individual, group counseling and family counseling, and discharge planning. Approximately eighteen years ago, I started working for Southside Community Services Board as a part-time therapist and then became a full-time therapist. Promoted to Lead Therapist and then to Clinical Services Manager. I currently serve as the Director of Clinical Services. I got into the field of Social Work to advocate for those who do not have a voice for themselves and to offer hope to those who may not know that it exists.
