Over 200 Lock & Talk Boxes Distributed
Southside Behavioral Health attended an MC Dean, a local contractor, safety briefing meeting in Boydton. Prevention Specialist and Lock and Talk VA trainer, Aimee Wootton talked about Virginia’s suicide prevention initiative Lock and Talk VA. This program is designed to raise awareness and prevent suicide by supplying members of the community with no-cost medication locking boxes to secure our lethal means; the locking medications boxes include gun cable locks and information about local resources and prevention training opportunities.
Over 200 lock and talk boxes were distributed to the workers of MC Dean and throughout December, Southside Behavioral Health hopes to attend future meetings to assist in the efforts of MC Dean to raise awareness of seasonal depression and promote positive mental health.
