This non-exempt (FLSA) position’s incumbent will use personal past experiences as a parent of a child or an adult with a family member with mental health and/or a substance use disorder to provide peer support to parent/caregivers to children though the age of 21 that have a serious emotional disturbance and/or a substance use disorder who are served in this agency.
A Family Support Partner is a Peer Recovery Specialist who provides person-centered
strength based and recovery oriented services to the caregiver. The services provided
to the caregiver must be directed exclusively toward the benefit of the youth. The
incumbent assists with successful engagement with the team process, advocacy, and
connection to formal and informal resources and helps them understand and navigate
services to build resiliency as a family. Services are expected to improve the outcomes
for youth with complex needs who are involved with with multiple systems and to
increase the youth and family’s confidence and capacity to manage their own services
and supports while promoting recovery and health relationships. This position is based
in the school and community.
High school diploma or GED required and some college preferred. Must be the current or former biological or adoptive parent or person in the parent role who has been the primary caregiver of a child with emotional, behavioral or mental health and/or substance use disorder Participation in wraparound intervention or in a family partnership meeting preferred. Must meet all criminal background and drug screening requirements. Valid driver’s license and safe driving record, required.
