SBH is seeking a qualified Purchasing Specialist who maintains the agency files for the purchasing activities with procuring goods and services. The incumbent will research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability and distribution capabilities, as well as the supplier’s reputation. 

Responsibilities

  • Processes agency Stock Request for goods and services. Review all requests for need of bid process, special instructions, vendor selection and item specifications. Verifies Stock Request by comparing items requested to master list; clarifying unclear items; and recommending alternatives.
  • Prepares Purchase Orders, Invitation for Bids, and Request for Proposals by verifying  specifications and price, by obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items, and  by  verifying approval from requisitioning department.
  • Obtains items approved for purchase by forwarding orders to vendors; monitoring and expediting orders. Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered; resolves shipments in error with vendors.
  • Ensures an up-to-date inventory of in-stock items, and orders replacements when necessary to  maintain operational levels.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor consistent with Board policies.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate/GED minimum. 
  • At least one-year experience working in a position which included purchasing, procurement, and/or contracting duties.  
  • Must have the ability to lift fifty (50) pounds.     
  • Must meet all criminal background and drug screening requirements as applicable. 
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a safe driving record. 
  • Bilingual preferred but not required
