This Crisis Nursing Supervisor responsibilities will include but are not limited to, providing psychiatric nursing client assessments, treatment planning, medication administration, monitoring and education, and laboratory services, where indicated. Maintains required documentation and medical records;  reviews individuals’ medical profiles in EHR and updates medication list as needed; responsible for chart audits and reviewing the documentation of the crisis nurses for compliance; participates in interdisciplinary staff meetings and coordinates with other crisis staff; coordinates with other medical providers when necessary. This role also provides crisis stabilization, medically managed withdrawal treatment, and de-escalation. Also, provide individual and family education on healthy lifestyle choices as well as psychoeducation, diagnosis and medication education, sleep hygiene, substance use and abuse, appropriate nutrition, and medically managed withdrawal. Preparing performance evaluations and providing ongoing supervision of Crisis nurses within the SBH Crisis Team. Responsible for chart audits and reviewing the crisis nurses’ documentation to ensure services comply with federal, state, and agency requirements.



  • Provide ongoing assessment of symptoms and assist individuals in meeting treatment goals and objectives related to the individual’s assessed level of need.
  • Provide interventions to de-escalate individuals.
  • Provide nursing interventions such as coordinating lab work, medication/illness education, administering medications, referral, monitoring consumer progress, adverse side effects, and triaging.  Provide on-site support to medical providers, including scheduling, checking vital signs, and coordinating follow-up visits.
  • Provides supervision to crisis nurses.


  • Registered Nurse (RN) formal training in the state of Virginia.
  • At least three years of nursing experience required, and at least two years providing nursing services to individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorder preferred.
  • Must meet all criminal background and drug screening requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record, required.
