Southside Behavioral Health’s Halifax Ribbon Cutting

Today, September 28, 2020, marked the first of five ribbon-cutting ceremonies to be held throughout the Fall of 2020. Celebrations began in Halifax at the Adult and Child Services Center located at 424 Hamilton Boulevard. As of July 2020, Southside Community Services Board officially rebranded as Southside Behavioral Health in an effort to increase awareness within our communities about our services and have more of a connection within the counties we serve.

Some prominent members from our community came out to show their support, including County Manager Tom Raab, County Administrator Scott Simpson, Dr. Betty Adams, the Executive Director of Southern Virginia Higher Education Center, three lieutenants from the South Boston Police Department, and Ann Bishop, Chair of Southside Wellness Coalition. Both South Boston newspapers, the News & Record, and The Gazette-Virginian were present to cover event proceedings, conduct interviews, and take pictures.

The event began promptly at 10:00 AM with introductions from Mr. Raab who spoke on the close relationship Southside Behavioral Health has established throughout the years with the police department. Southside Behavioral Health often works alongside the South Boston Police Department to provide emergency services and prevention training within the local community.

Following Mr. Rabb, Southside Behavioral Health’s Executive Director Elizabeth Engelhorn spoke on how Southside Behavioral Health’s rebranding is part of an intentional campaign to foster a closer connection between our organization and the communities we serve. She also thanked everyone for their support.

On that note, thanks again to everyone who came out and participated. We hope to see you again at 10:00 AM for our next event on October 19th at Southside Behavioral Health’s Brunswick location at 2987 Lawrenceville Plank Rd, Lawrenceville VA 23868.
